Stop Bullying Bulletin Board
To show our school what we have been learning about anti bullying, I had my class make our April bulletin board around the theme. I wrote stop bullying on all of their hands and took their pictures. I gave each student 10 petals to glue around a circle to create a flower. Students rotated around the room and wrote compliments about their classmates. They got to trace their compliments with markers, which is one of their favorite things to do (who would have thought markers would get them so excited?!) Once everyone's flowers were filled, I glued their pictures in the center and started hanging them on our bulletin board. I decided to use the quote "Be the change you want to see in the world" as our title. It is a quote written on a building near our school and it has always stuck with me. Kids should live in a world where they aren't scared or upset, but where they feel happy and empowered.

More Money!
We have been working really hard on counting coins for the past couple of weeks! To help my kiddies remember what each coin is and what it's worth, I keep these paper plates on my board. I have a picture of each coin, the name, and sticker dots that show the value of the coin.
My kiddies have been counting coins on the board, writing on white boards, and even writing on their tables with dry erase markers (this is one of their favorite things to do!)
We also played a game on teams. I gave each team a bag of coins, a white board, and a dry erase marker. I said a value and teams had to work together to put coins that added up to that value on their white board. They had a blast working together and using their coins.

We are now on counting quarters! On Thursday, it was time for our March bulletin board and since we have been working on money, I decided to combine money and ice cream, because who doesn't love both things?! I gave them 3 ice cream scoops, a cone cut out of construction paper, and coins. They colored and cut out their ice cream scoops. Then they had to cut out a combination of coins and glue the coins on their ice cream scoops. Finally, they counted their coins and wrote the total value on their ice cream cone. They turned out great!

February Bulletin Boards
For this month's bulletin board, my kiddies wrote a narrative paragraph telling what they would do if they had a love-bot. I told them to imagine their love-bot was their valentine for Valentine's Day and to think of things they would do with them. We came up with a list of ideas including buy them flowers, go to the movies, go out to dinner, buy them jewelry, and make them breakfast. Then we created our cute little love-bots. They got a kick out of them!
We were learning about fractions, so I had my students color parts of shapes and write the fraction they colored in on each shape.
February is American Heart Month, so my students wrote two things they do to keep their heart healthy. They had so much fun creating their healthy heart characters!
